TSB, Sabadell's UK Bank, to Cut Approximately 300 Jobs, Union Reports.

TSB, the UK banking arm of Spain's Banco de Sabadell, is set to reduce its workforce by approximately 300 jobs as part of a broader restructuring initiative, according to reports from employee union Unite. The proposed job reductions, which were disclosed to staff on Tuesday, are expected to impact various departments including Risk & Finance, Customer Banking, and Customer Delivery teams, Unite stated.

While Sabadell declined to comment directly on the matter, TSB acknowledged the restructuring efforts, citing a need to streamline its operations. A spokesperson for TSB emphasised that such decisions are made with careful consideration, with a priority on supporting affected employees and exploring redeployment options where possible.

The announcement comes as Sabadell CEO Cesar Gonzalez-Bueno recently outlined plans to improve TSB's efficiency ratio, aiming to reduce it to 60% from its previous figure of 73.6% by the end of 2023. This strategy involves job reductions and branch closures at TSB.

Shares in Sabadell experienced a slight dip following the news, trading 0.2% lower at 1512 GMT, amidst a 0.6% rise in Spain's leading index Ibex-35.

These reductions could lead to diminished capabilities in risk management and financial oversight, longer customer service wait times, and potential setbacks in innovation and service improvements. Such changes may affect TSB's operational efficiency, customer satisfaction levels, and ability to adapt to industry demands.

If you or someone you know has experienced issues with TSB's job reductions and believe you have been unfairly treated in the process, we want to hear from you.
